2010 US AND THEM

Every now and then, life throws random people together and the creator, endowed with a great sense of humour, sits back to enjoy the consequences. These are moments we treasure as with every un-choreographed act  there is madness, joy, intrigue and hurt. This piece was an inspiration that came from a Floyd song I listened to, in a car.

Once there was you, you were not alone
You ached from the emptiness inside
And then there was me, I came along
and your emotions you couldn't hide
We spun our lives ‘round a web of deceit
Happiness in our hearts and feet
But They. They were watching

Once there was me, I was not alone
but I had a loneliness deep inside
Then there was you, you came along
and my arms were thrown open wide
We shared our laughs two birds on a wire
We spoke of tomorrow with burning desire
And They. They were talking

Me and you, we became us
as life played out this passing craze
Me and you when we became us
It was most definitely just a phase
We loved the dark side of the moon
We shared a drive, a midnight swoon
And They. They were frowning

The ale diluted, we got sober
Us we knew the dance was over
Them were angry, Them were cross
Us we rolled like stones on moss
And They. They were hurting

They were upset, They were sad
We saw the good, didn't see the bad
Us and Them didn't get along
They knew Us didn't belong
And They. They were winning

They wanted more and Us got less
It was the worst. it was the best
A quiet end to the blaze of glory
Chapter closed. End of story
