Holding within

the power to disarm

A simple blend of skin and sinew

that revitalises and makes anew

the flagging spirits of an onlooker

that fans the flames of intrigue

with a single twitch

and causes eyebrows to raise

like a suspended bridge

Rooted and yet uprooted

transfixed and transported

to a poetic realm 

which overwhelms

All variation, all unique

held twisted in anticipatory bliss

half open, half closed

basking lazily in the sunlight

Putting on a show

enclosed in a suffused glow

waxing eloquent in stories dreamt

of impossible possibility
