INNER CHILD

Have you seen my inner child playing in your wanderlust

Drawing out from dimples deep that spring of lucid laughter

Wrapping ends of anecdotes within the bosom of a smile

Dancing aimless all alone beneath an impish moon

Unaware of perils that lurk beyond reality

Unaware of rules that quarantine humanity

Have you heard my inner child capture mischief in a word

Trapping thoughts of mutiny deep inside your ear

Flutters in a kissing wind, fragments of a speech unpinned

finding ways through lanes unchecked  into your very soul

Uncaring of perils that lurk beyond reality

Uncaring of rules that quarantine humanity

You have stirred my inner child with fingertips of wonder

Felt the markings printed there on fissures of innocence

Traced the weather swirling with a provocative feather

Leaving goosebumps attentive in suspense

Unmindful of perils that lurk beyond reality

Unmindful of rules that quarantine humanity

I'm glad my inner child met your inner child afore

I feel they were moulded from the same clay

For that is why we laugh together, play together, stay together

Our inner child is one and the same

And the perils of reality, the rules of humanity

they vanish like a disappearing trick

No norms, no codes, no rules, no game

When our inner child is one and the same

Our inner child is one and the same
