FEATHER DISTORTED
How would you describe a feather
the assignment for the day at
Grammar school where the
young mind is questioned into play
Lets start with the possible but
Creativity demands assumption so
until it becomes inflammable
lets project fertile imagination
I know, said a young boy
a feather is soft and white
comforts me in the pillow
I sleep on at night
To me a feather is beautiful
a chirpy young girl said
various hues are imbued
which stays even after its dead
The adolescent piped a feather
I use to tickle the skin
Long and fluffy, I use two
alike as twins
A feather, said the sophomore,
is delicate and fine
Catches dreams artistic
on a circle entwined
I think, said a graduate,
the feather is analogy
a pun for some fun
cliché or even simile
I'll add said another, eagle eyed
a feather gives you flight
Lifts the weary traveller
and makes his journey light
A feather said the poet
is an instrument of delight
steel tipped in ink
black that I use to write
A feather said the marksman
is stiff and scarlet
draws blood when launched
from a position covert
A feather is anger,
said a voice ruffled and dark
bristling with emotion and
with teeth like a shark
And then the teacher took the feather
opened a window and let it fly
the wind had died so it descended
waving a spiralled goodbye
opened a window and let it fly
the wind had died so it descended
waving a spiralled goodbye
