WONDER
Light falls and a smile calls
On a sepia revelation
An answer
to sensory deprivation
Revealed, unwrapped
Bejewelled, Bedecked
Dividing indecision
with surgical precision
Lies staring, a weakness
Stirring, Penetrating
A blessing, rendering immobile,
questions arrested by a smile
Wonder why the auburn sky
kissed by dark clouds from faraway
Stops your thoughts, turns dashes into dots
and holds you fixed with a smile
Wonder what the picture thought
about the colours it brought today
that fanned the glow of desire below
held captive in profile
Wonder how an arched brow
paused, stopped, and caused to stay
turning a blush into a heady rush
hiding in the mirage of a smile
Wonder, when reflected light bends,
if the earth is held in its sway
And ardent eyes that spring surprise
can speed life into exile
Wonder where the sparkles dare
skip to an undiscovered ballet
lying frozen on a wire awaiting a fire
making the stay worthwhile
Wonder who was lucky to
be privy to the display
The captive wonder that stole thunder
and lay hidden in a smile
