THE HARP OF EXISTENCE
Strumming a new tune each day
Harmonies constructed by what we say
Each action having consequence
Plucked are the notes that are calm
In recesses formed by a resonant palm
Tinkling meditatively in our quiet moments
A fifth above the third that fades from focus
Each tune bears a story of wide shoulders
Carrying burdens hastily accumulated
Weighing on a conscience unknowingly created
To please the surrounding significant others
The bridge plays moments of hidden truth
That moves the song away from verse
A chance enigma with which you converse
In a wild dance on the discovery of youth
Employed in the craft is a change of key
Baring horizons of impossible to the hesitant
Daring a mind already cast in stoic resistance
To experiment a change, a pleasant discovery
Routine interspersed with dotted accidentals
Pauses that test the threads of impatience
Burst beneath the monotony of existence
Like cacti blooming in a desert of restless
The tunes repeated then start making sense
Revealing understanding as we chase
Complexity constructed within each phrase
While playing the harp of existence
