DELIRIUM

One wonders the absence of reason

The void in the realm of rational explanation

when caught in the tornado of delirium

That altered state of satiation

quite opposite to despair and despondence

A moment of spirited salvation

effected by a pandemonium of chemicals

congregating at cerebro-synaptic junctions

Out of sight and out of reach

yet controlling every perceived sensation

Each explosion compounds the delusion

rising on wings of sensory emigration

in a web of hallucinogenic hitch-hiking

causing a triumph of recklessness

at the cost of educated moderation

yet one wonders, in wonder

at the intricacies of liberation

The tiniest of factors for cause and effect

where no one demands and no one knows

why living exceeds expectation

The urge to jump headlong into oblivion

and swim upstream, the river of dreams

without giving time for realisation

A celestial vacation amongst the stars

that shine favourably on terrestrial celebration
