FROM UNEXPECTED CORNERS
Once everyday without permission, perhaps twice
comes reminders in the form of images and words
that lay a clever ambush from unexpected corners
They flash past swift, in the blink of an eye
depositing the right amount of dovish lift
to wings folded in wait, waiting to flutter
A dash of colour dropped on life's canvas
that warms and spreads like a conjured spell
energising the fabric of the ordinary day
with genuine frisson to one who recognises
the dropped hints amongst hidden signs
keepsakes plucked from a time tucked
Uncanny yes and more so overwhelming,
the thrill unveiled in that rare moment
that asks not to reveal coded answers
Fleeting though the instant, it is enough
for that gentle wave to transform my core
and I spread my wings to soar to you once more
