THE ACT OF WAITING
Wait in patient acceptance for
what is written is somehow true because
it is believed to be so
Wait in glorious expectation that
tomorrow will bring untold riches
because the words promise paradise
Wait in fevered anticipation for
the truth to manifest because
good things take time for revelation
Wait in prostrated obeisance for
percolated wisdom from an infinite source
while fingers twist prayer beads
Wait in joyous recognition that
this prison called life is but
a temporary stop on the way to nirvana
Wait in humble recognition that
your path has been predetermined
or Act so that you wait no more
Act in ways unique that erase
the need for blind forbearance
sold in verses translated over ages
Act in defiant endorsement of
what is here and what is now
embracing every moment mercifully given
Act when permitted without hinderance
for in hesitation is lost that
which can never be regained
Act so that regret never replays
the actions that might have
mattered if only they could have
Act to determine the outcome
and don't lose decision to superstition
or carefully curated supposition
Act or Wait they are two sides
stitched into the fabric of humanity
that doers and observers divide
