UNTOUCHABLE LETTERS
Fragments of torn and discarded phrases
settle soft upon sand and wave
Kissed before sunrise, bearing rouge
That stain from love's longing kiss
Part of a whole they were just hours before
A letter read thousand times ten thousand
that trembling hands set free at first light
Into an ocean filled with hopeful anticipation
Was it good or bad none will ever know
for the letter shred before dawn
brought smile and frown in equal measure
perhaps the crabs might pinch a clue
Have you been party to ravaging of remarks
a broken bond or a renewed secret tryst
dismembered and left to fly into nature's lap
Adding to her collection of untouchable letters
