SONNET OF ST. ANDREA

The Danube blue shimmered white in the light
provoked by an angel, dancing alone
Smiling solitary under stars bright
Fairy feet skipping over cobblestone

Unfazed and happy in her own delight
A queen seeking clues of the Hapsburg throne
In a home of writers who in their right
rubbed shoulders with composers; Poets well known

A glimpse as fleeting as the blink of eye
etches the image into memory

Holding close to the heart her twirling pose
that prefers to beguile and mystify

potent memoirs of immortality
catalysed by a polka dotted rose
