An abbreviated answer 

The retort left lingering 

As you ponder a blunder 

An assent with a nod 

A dissent with a shrug 

A smirk amusing 

That ends conversation 

Perhaps concealing prediction 

Within layers of doubt 

A hapless predilection 

which ends with a pout 

A prelude to a kiss

Within misplaced pronunciation 

A wistful reminisce 

of past flirtation 

Attached to a raised eyebrow 

It appraises silently 

Sucking a fingertip 

waiting patiently  

A reply in frustration

When anger curbs speech 

The absent minded look

Of preoccupation

Resigned to boredom

In an empty room

Its an awkward silence

Which hopes to end soon
